From the North or South

1. Exit Route 130 at the Riverton/Moorestown exit.

  • From the South, it’s a jughandle, accessed from the right lane. The exit is just after you pass “Bayard’s Chocolate House.” Travel under the walkway overpass and make a sharp RIGHT. There’s a 7-11 store and a Dunkin’ Donuts on the right.
  • From the North, watch for Acme Market strip mall, located on your right. The exit is immediately past the strip mall entrance, on the right.

2. Follow signs for “Riverton,” placing you on Moorestown-Riverton Road.

3. Stay on Riverton Road for about one mile until you come to a second traffic light, with a railroad track, Light Rail stop at that light. (The road has changed name to Main Street.) You are now in the middle of Riverton.

4. Continue straight through the traffic light and over the tracks. Bear RIGHT at the first street after the traffic light, which is Howard Street.

5. Riverton Public School is on the corner of Fifth & Howard Streets, across from the Police Station & Fire House. We have no parking lot, so please find a space on the street.

Riverton can be accessed from New Jersey Transit’s Light Rail (Trenton to Camden line).

Riverton Preschool Information

Welcome to our Riverton Preschool Information page! The goal of this page is to provide transparent information to our community about the NJDOE Preschool Expansion funding that 100% operates our preschool program. 

Annual Timeline (Estimates)

Fall: The Riverton School District publishes an interest survey to the community for the following school year. For example, the 2027-2028 Preschool Interest survey went out on 9/22/2026. Why? School districts are obligated to report a projection number to the NJDOE by 11/15 of each year. For this year, if your child will be 3 by 10/1/2027 you should complete this interest survey to help us with our projections.

Late Fall – Early Winter: After reviewing the interest poll data and reporting a formal number to the NJDOE the Riverton School District staff will begin to plan for the following year logistics of our preschool program. During this period, if needed, a preschool lottery form will be shared with all families who completed the interest form. The Lottery Form will also be placed on our website, shared in our community, etc. A preschool lottery date will be scheduled. Annually, our preschool lottery has taken place towards the middle of January. 

Winter – Late Winter: The families who are chosen in the lottery will be contacted in order they were drawn. Families can accept or decline seats in our program. The preschool lottery is video recorded and shared with all families. Any children who are not offered a seat will be placed on a waiting list.

Important Note: NJDOE Preschool Expansion guidelines provide a framework where all expansion programs will run as a mixed ages program. This means there must be seats for both 3 and 4 year old students. If a student is enrolled in the program at 3, they are guaranteed a seat as a 4 year old. If a student does not gain a seat as a 3 year old they are not guaranteed a seat as a 4 year old.
